Understanding Consequences

There is so much fear thrown around when we talk about sin.  This fear keeps most non-believers from even wanting to enter the church.  However, if we are really to break down the word sin, I think we would come to realize its not as scary as we make it.  Now don’t mistake my grammar for taking anything away from the pain and shame that sin brings with it.  We need to understand that we will never be sinless, but we can always strive to sin less.  Understanding sin means knowing that we missed the mark.  It means we have done something, regardless of how it makes us feel at the time, that was selfish.  We tend to associate sin with the punishment of God as an end to all ends.  Jesus on the cross took care of that for us.  There are, however, consequences to our sins.  This is where we need to take into account how we live our life.  We need to make our sin list short.  This is a pretty simple example and we will chose ” Lust” as the sin:

Two men are struggling with lust.  Their lives are different, in fact they do not even know each other. However, circumstances are the same in their lives.  They both have used lust over their years as a way to medicate and escape reality.  The first man escapes reality through lust by viewing images on the computer.  He goes to sites that are adult rated and he feeds his sinful nature.  There is no doubt that lust has caused him to sin.  Now, the second man escapes reality by not only viewing the computer, but uses it to meet someone, a prostitute.  There again is no doubt that lust has caused him to sin.  In God’s eyes sin is sin and both men will have to deal with conviction, even the same type of conviction from God, which should be a grievous experience whenever we openly choose to sin against him.  However, their consequences are infinitely different.  The first man’s consequence will be conviction for choosing to sin against God.  However, the second man not only has to deal with consequences of conviction from God, but he may also suffer consequences such as disease, being arrested, robbery, murder, etc.  The list could continue on…

This is what we must understand about our lives and how we choose to live it.  The things we do not only affect us, but people in our lives.  We must turn from being selfish and continually look for people in our lives who are broken and basically just need a friend, thats what Jesus did for me.  The time has come for us to understand that we all miss the mark (sin) but we do not all have to suffer consequences that can put us and our families in generational bondage.  Please know that your freedom in Christ is fully paid and we are ALL his Beloved. LET GO AND LET GOD! SELAH…

Wisdom

One of my personal prayers is that as I gain knowledge about people and God I would allow the Holy Spirit to transform that into Wisdom.  Well, I was just chatting with a friend on a social network, where I have friends that I never knew where my friends and still somehow ended up on my friends list, site.  This person I was chatting with I do consider a friend, and as we were chatting she shared with me something that the Holy Spirit was stirring on her heart.  She ” spilled her guts” as she says, but totally trusted in God and without realizing it, chose His Wisdom.  She made a decision for her life that God placed on her heart.  Now, that decision, if she shares with others, will seem to them to be overboard.  However, I know from first hand knowledge that we are all wired differently and God calls us to face our trials based on our brokenness.  He is in the habit of helping us through the grind and once we know what puts us in the grind, the easier it becomes to realize he is first and everyone else, well He loves them too! 🙂

There is no doubt The Holy Spirit is radical and when we choose to follow him by ” walking blind” even to other Christians we will look like a Jesus Freak!  I pray for myself that I would have the courage that my friend had to make the choice she made for God and her walk with him.  The new church thing is people claiming that are the church where they attend.  I want to say this clearly… I AM A JESUS FREAK!!!!!!!

The Shema

” Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, The Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul and with all your strength.”  This is the most central prayer in Judaism and should be a significant prayer for us as Christians.  When God calls out to Israel, we are apart of that call, though we are not considered the elect, we are adopted in his royal family.  Therefore, we understand that our God is one and he is three that are also one.  The Father, The Son, and the Holy Spirit.  He loves us so much that his desire is that we would surrender all of who we are to him.  He will daily bear our burdens with us and for us if we let him.  When we step into life we will face many fierce lions, obstacles we would rather run from than face and God says NO, do not run, trust me and Love me with all of your heart… Give up on your feelings and allow His hands to guide your way.. Love me with all your soul… Know that though you are born with inherited sin and you carry many burdens and have seen darkness, your soul is mine as you confess that I am your Lord, all of your stains will be cleaned, Your soul will be set free by me… Finally, Love me with all your Strength… I will meet you in the worse of times, when you have nothing left and feel as if all you can manage is one more breath, that is with all your strength and I, Your Lord, will make you strong in your weakness.  The Shema is a prayer for us to meditate on daily and know that our lives in Christ are moment by moment.  Tattoo this prayer onto your hearts my friends, so that people can and will see Jesus shine through us..  SO BE IT!
