Self-Control

I spoke this weekend at church.  It was a fun and great time and it was actually the first time I got to work with three friends.  It was a lot of fun.  Now, the topic was anger and the scripture was from proverbs 16:32.  In this time of sharing with the children I came to realize that God speaks to us in the same way.  He constantly says we need to be like children and have faith like they do.  What that means to me is that a simple lesson designed for kids, well, we are  all his kids, we can learn from it as well.  I can think about my past and the many times I had no self control and then look at myself today and how I managed to let God be a part, I mean truly be apart of the storms in my life.  It didn’t make the storm any less vicious, but the damage was minimal, because ultimately it was left in his hands.  God has shown me through wisdom, that reacting or fighting fire with fire is not the way to go, and even if in human eyes, where they say stand, we must in Gods eyes submit to his foundations.  Anything we try and build will be BROKEN…However, our self-control is not really ours, when we decide to have some, it means we have finally surrendered our hearts and decisions to Christ.  I understand this doesn’t happen in every situation, because we human and have a sinful nature within us, but if we choose to be more obedient in our daily walks, we will see an increase in our self-control.  SELAH!

Baptism in the Holy Spirit

We have a chance in our lives here on Earth to let God totally consume us.  We simply must surrender and ask him to baptize us in the Holy Spirit.  With this comes power, the power to heal, love and show mercy and grace.  The Holy Spirit provides for us when we do not know how to provide for ourselves or for our loved ones.  When we submit to Christ and allow the Holy Spirit to reign we feel and think about certain people at all different times of the day.  The Holy Spirit knows when someone needs prayer, a conversation and sometimes just a hug.  Our lives become so hectic that we get lost in our own busyness.  God tells us over and over again to slow down and see his creation.  The time and precision he took to create us and everything in this World is the same type of effort he wants to see of us for each of our brothers and sisters.  When you pray ask Jesus to Baptize you in the Holy Spirit or ask your pastor to pray that for you.  You will begin to see differently and think differently about every situation in your life.  God brings us to a point in our lives where knowledge is no longer enough, we have to choose to apply the knowledge to how we live so that it can become wisdom.  We cannot become wise in God’s way of thinking if we don’t walk the walk.  The power that comes from the Holy Spirit gives us discernment and comfort and allows us to know what God thinks of the situations we are in and the people that are in our lives.  I love that we have the ability to do amazing things in Christ through us and that we must give him all the glory.  He is worth living for and he is definitely worth dying for.  Now I am not calling myself or you to be a martyr but I am saying we must learn to die to our old self, the selfish, manipulative, narcissistic sinful nature self and keep our eyes focused on Jesus.  This way when the old comes knocking we know not to open that door, because the Holy Spirit within us gives us the wisdom to know we are WORTH more to Jesus… Amen!

Redeem me o Lord

I wake up in the morning knowing my heart belongs to Christ.  I have these strong urges to run but realize that I have to stand strong in Christ.  I must not allow my feeling to dictate how I live and I know Christ will carry me through these burdens. He says he is our refuge and I love that Jesus is my safe place.  The choices we make in life must be focused on others and when we begin to place ourselves or our selfishness over that we must be re-directed.  God is an amazing teacher and brings conviction quickly and in that we must repent, dust off and continue in our obedience.  I pray that He will always comes quickly to my rescue and deliver me in His righteousness.  My heart is being molded into a heart designed totally by Christ.  I know that Jesus will watch over me and those that I care about, and will free me from the trap that has been set for me.  I want my desire to be one that is in line with His will and that I will no longer try to fulfill my own desires.  For Jesus says he knows the desires of our hearts and will grant those to us in His timing, therefore I will not put effort in trying to please myself, because I cannot match the blessings that God has in store for me.  Redeem me O Lord and let me commit my spirit into your hands.  This world may continue to try and set stumbling blocks before us but when Christ is our viewpoint, we learn how to step aside and over these obstacles with the Holy Spirit.  I want to become more intimate with Jesus and I know that as I desire that, the evil one will turn up the heat because of the depth of his attacks.  I will stand by the scripture that says as I draw nearer to Jesus, Satan will flee from me.  Amen Lord and thank you for my Brokenness, Redemption and Transformation…
