It Starts with Jesus

There is this little thing we always tend to forget as Christians, especially when we just go through life.  It all starts with Jesus.  This means even when we feel we are away from the Lord and our hearts are hardened.  The hardest thing to realize is that we have to go back to Jesus, He is the reason for all we are and all we have.  Life is tough enough as we go through tough times, lose loved ones and deal with our inner struggles.  The devil wants us to believe we are at our wicks end and well we put our self here and we need to just accept that. NO! we can always come back to Jesus, our Savior, our King, our Friend.  His desire is for us to know we are loved by him and regardless of the many bad choices we make we can always start back at Jesus.  Our lives are entangled with lies and illusions from the enemy and most of the times these things are easy for us to believe.  The moment when they start becoming nonsense to us is when we get back on track with Christ.  As we draw near to him again we realize that these thoughts are not ours, they may sound like us and how we think, but we know that is not how our King would think.  We are created in His image and we have been chosen by Him.  I think it is so cool that we have a religion, THE ONLY RELIGION, where God comes looking for us.  He longs for a relationship with us, whether we have not met Him yet or we are seasoned veterans of the Faith.  Jesus chose to be the catalyst to our faith, He chose to be the Martyr for an entire world because He loves us.  If we want change in our life we have to be deliberate in our choices, Stop making bad ones, and make the necessary accommodations to help you become successful.  You may need counseling, you may need a friend, you may need support, you may just need to know you are worth it and this all Starts with Jesus.  I am asking you to be deliberate today as you read this and start with Jesus.  If you have just been doing church or just living life or even if you have been living in sin, but you know our Lord and our Savior, take time today to start with Him.  One of the greatest symbols for us as Christians is Jesus on the cross because of His victory over death and sin, but another symbol for us to remember and to be etched into our minds is He laid upon the cross with His arms wide open and that is exactly how Jesus waits on you today and everyday as long as you live.  My friends step into His embrace and allow Jesus to do what He desires, comfort and care for His beloved. SELAH!

Its almost time

I am going on my first mission trip.  I am really excited to see what God is going to do.  I am going to Nicaragua and I am going to be working with kids who basically live in a dump.  Wow, all I can think about is that I am going to a nation where they know real faith.  Their lives are truly lived moment by moment.  They do not own changes of clothes and most of the time they probably do not even know when they are going to get their next meal.  The one thing they do know is Jesus loves them.  It is much like the beautiful people of Haiti as they sat with nothing and they were hurt, dying and unable to move, but when one man started to sing about Jesus the entire town started to sing.  Even in their darkness they found light, they found Christ.  I know the same can happen in Nicaragua.  They live their lives in a dump, but for the moments we get to spend with them, will be Holy.  We will get to pour into them and I am mostly excited that they will get to pour into us.  I am wanting to see what true faith looks like, what it really means to live with nothing and have everything.  I know that our God is a big God and He will bring healing, joy and mercy on all of us as we chase after him next week.  My decree to myself is to surrender to the God I know and love, to the Lord that will show me His face next week and that I will realize that nothing in this world can match what He offers. Amen!

Desire- It’s not a bad word!

I know for me and from my struggles desire is a word that I do not associate with good.  I have felt like my appetites and innate feeling towards certain things made me a bad person.  Then as I read into the word and into the wisdom God has spread I realize that desire is a good word.  I have come to learn that the devil takes everything God has created and adds a twist and turn to it so that it creates an illusion of evil if you will or sin.  The one thing I tend to forget is God has created everything here on Earth that is good.  Typically, our desires and appetites are for things that make us feel good.  We desire them because of that very reason.  Well, God created those things in our life to be enjoyed, but in an scriptural way.  When we submit ourselves and our desires to Him, He will meet them but His way and His time.  God doesn’t try and trick us, He simply says wait, trust in me and I will give you a Steak and Lobster dinner instead of that sloppy Joe and tangy slaw you are used to.  Now I do not have anything against a good sloppy Joe, but I wouldn’t want to waste my appetite on that if I knew by waiting just a little longer( God’s time that is) I would get the Filet Mignon.  I do not want to be afraid to share my desires anymore, in fact I want people to know that I desire a intimate relationship with Christ, I want them to know I desire to be a great husband and father one day, I desire that my wife to be will be my best friend, I want them to know I desire a relationship with people who are broken and need healing and I want them to know I desire to live my life the way Christ intended, ABUNDANTLY!    SELAH!
